Greg Gunderson

Racer

A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Greg Gunderson is a member of the legendary Dirkson racing family who dominated auto racing in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota from the 1950s to 1970s. He attended South Dakota School for the Deaf and Brandon Valley High School, and received his B.S. in Entrepreneurial Studies from Gallaudet University. He began racing when he was 6, with ATVs and snowmobile competitions. When he was 17, he won an Enduro race car, and participated in Enduro races for 3 years. He then entered sprint-car racing, participating for 10 years. After a 5-year hiatus, he returned to local competitions. The only deaf driver featured on the reality-TV show Racin’ for a Livin’, he was voted #3 of 12 finalists.
