Deaf Person of the Month
Actor, comedian, producer
"I am a natural-born standup comedian," says CJ Jones. "Just been that way my whole life." He enjoys making people laugh—while educating them and encouraging them to discard prejudicial assumptions and breaking down barriers between communities.
Early-deafened, he had the great good fortune to grow up in a family with Deaf parents. At NTID, he was active in the Drama Club, and after graduating, joined the National Theatre of the Deaf and Little Theatre of the Deaf.
He played Orin in a touring production of Children of a Lesser God and has some good prime-time-TV credits, and, in 2006, wrote and produced What Are You . . . Deaf?, which toured nationally. He appeared in the 2007 documentary Through Deaf Eyes, and was spotlighted as one of four Deaf performers in Hilari Scarl’s See What I'm Saying: The Deaf Entertainers Documentary (2010).
He plays Joseph in Edgar Wright’s "mega-budget" action-crime-thriller Baby Driver, and Uriah, the psychic hero, in the low-budget horror film Door in the Woods (both to be released in Summer 2017). He's producing Dark Invocations (to be released in 2018).
